The school operates under the Dixon plan, and caters for the Key stage 3 curriculum (pupils aged between 11-14 years old). After education at the junior high, pupils either transfer to Portadown College or Craigavon Senior High School.

The school has approximately 235 pupils enrolled, with the average class size being around 20 pupils.  All levels of ability are catered for, from high achievers to those pupils with specific learning difficulties. An onsite Learning Support Centre provides for the education of Statemented pupils.

The main focus of the school is to promote a positive attitude to learning, so that each child develops to their full potential. This is reflected by preparing pupils for a wide diversity of careers, be it at the highest academic level or for those pupils who prefer, a vocational path through suitable education provision.
